Instructions for presentations

Oral, poster and virtual presentations at WRFER conferences.

Instructions of the old WRFER "Instructions for presentations" page, for oral, poster and virtual presenters.

Data presentation

  • Bring your PowerPoint presentation (or other PC-based file) on a USB memory stick or CD/DVD and load it on a conference computer in the speakers' ready room at least 1 hour before your session starts.
  • The conference computers have Microsoft Office 2010 or newer.
  • You can also use your own laptop. Check that it has a VGA connection (or bring an adapter), and test it in the session hall during the coffee or lunch break, at least 30 minutes before your session.
  • Check videos inside your PowerPoint in the session hall during a break, at least 30 minutes before your session.

Poster presentations

  • Posters must be written in English.
  • Each poster board has a number: put your poster on the board with your number.
  • Materials to attach the posters are available at the conference office.
  • Each author must be at the poster during the poster presentation times.
  • Remove your poster at the end of the second poster session. The organising committee does not keep or send posters left at the venue.

Before your presentation

  • Prepare your presentation well.
  • Prepare for the question and answer session right after your presentation.

Virtual presentations

Live video presenters submit an abstract or full paper, which goes through the peer review. After you confirm your participation, the organising committee runs a test shortly before the conference and tells you how to connect and present. After the conference you receive a soft copy of the certificate of presentation and the proceedings; the conference documents are sent to your address.

  • Laptop or desktop with a webcam and a microphone
  • An updated Chrome browser
  • Pause your virus protection before the start, or it may block the webcam
  • A bright, calm place with a professional background
